Hi Cindy,

Yes, it is an adjustment to be "on the other side" --definitely culture shock! Good luck, and please keep in touch!

Thanks, Susan! As a former newspaper journalist, I LOVE No. 11! It made me chuckle. Thanks for the great PR tips - I'm still not feeling real comfortable being on the "other side" these days. Keep 'em coming!

Interesting post. A few thoughts on the Top 10:

1) Absolutely agree
2) 15 words or 140 characters for a pitch? I like concise pitches, but that seems a little bit out of left field..
3) Depends on the reporter. Agree to follow them, but don't necessarily agree if you're talking about pitching them on SM networks
4) See no. 1
5) Ok
6) This commandment could replace no. 2
7) Media deadlines are 24/7 now given how many reporters are responsible for print AND online coverage. Just be respectful, get to the point, and don't make your pitch a novel.
8) No doubt
9) Agreed
10) I don't have to love it, but I do have to believe it's compelling enough for a reporter to want to write about it.
